A Trend That is Here to Stay
If you love to shop for quality pieces at great prices, you’re likely aware of the yearly Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that’s going on right now, (and if you’re not, you need to check it out asap). We’re talking brand new inventory and styles for the fall, at a discount you never seen at Nordstrom. Nordstrom doesn’t do coupons, there’s no “if you spend $100, you get $25 off” and you can’t search for a code online and add it to your cart. This is it! For example, last year I bought a pair of over-the-knee Sam Edelman boots shown here for like 40% off the regular price. I went back to buy them for a client a month later and they were back to full price. The sale is no joke.
So I wanted to not only share how important this sale is for fall shopping, but also let you know that after perusing the site this week while shopping for a few clients (including myself), it’s clear that one particular trend is extremely popular, and that’s statement sleeves. Now, we saw these tops last fall, winter, and spring, but they are not going away, anytime soon. Personally, I’m thrilled about this because my closet is full of them! And if you follow me on instagram (@jsheastyle), that’s pretty obvious.
For those of you who are new to this trend, let me break it down. It is essentially a top or blouse with a sleeve that is different from your normal sleeve. It can be a variation of ruffles, a bell shape, cold shoulder (shirts with a hole on your shoulder), etc. I’ve had some fun with this trend over the summer months which you can see on my #whati’mwearingwednesdays posts on insta, here are a few examples:
The trend is very versatile and works on all body types and ages. For those who don’t like to show their arms and go sleeveless, the cold shoulder tops are a great option. For those of you who like a more classic look, try a solid top with a bell sleeve like I’m wearing above in navy. It’s stylish, but simple and easy.
So I challenge you to try this trend out! Here are some finds from the Nordstrom sale for you to snag to wear the rest of the summer and into fall. Happy shopping!
